The situation in Gaza as ICJ places order on Israel

—

The situation in Gaza is dire, with a significant number of casualties reported. The Gaza Health Ministry has recorded 183 people killed and 377 wounded in the last 24 hours. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has issued an order to Israel, directing it to take steps to prevent acts of genocide in Gaza. However, the ICJ has not mandated a ceasefire.

Refugee camps and public facilities in Khan Younis are being targeted, and there are reports of Israeli artillery shelling and snipers shooting at Palestinians outside al-Amal Hospital.

The total toll from Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7 is 26,083 people killed and 64,487 wounded. The death toll in Israel from Hamas attacks on October 7 is 1,139.

The ICJ’s order to Israel includes taking measures to prevent and punish direct and public incitement to commit genocide. Israel is required to report to the court within a month on its actions to uphold this order.

The Israeli army has reported another soldier killed and 11 injured in the southern Gaza Strip. The total number of soldiers killed in Gaza since October 7 is 557, with 220 soldiers killed since the start of the ground operation on October 27. The overall number of soldiers and officers wounded since the beginning of the ground operation is 2,757, with 258 individuals sustaining serious injuries.
