Ahead of the forthcoming National Executive Council meeting of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, scheduled for Thursday 18 April 2024, the former National Publicity Secretary of the Party Kola Olgbondiyan has stated that the meeting would decide on the future of the party.

Olgbondiyan who stated this while speaking on AriseNews Morning Show on Tuesday 16 April, emphasized that until the conclusion of the forthcoming NEC meeting the party cannot be pronounced inactive following what he described as a hemorrhagic stage the party is currently facing.

He maintained that the fate of the Acting National chairman of the party, Iliya Umar Damagum to either exit or remain as the party national chairman would be decided during the NEC meeting.

The former National Publicity Secretary of the Party stressed the need for the PDP to consider filing in a party member from the north central part of the country to complete the tenure of the former National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

The PDP chieftain who noted that the former vice president and presidential candidate of the party at the 2023 general election, Atiku Abubakar remains the leader of the party, averred that the party is concerned about reinventing itself to wrestle power at the center.

He stated that stakeholders of the party from the north central had earlier endorsed the former governor of Benue state, Gabriel Suswan to fill in the party National Chairmanship position adding that another meeting slated for tomorrow Wednesday 17th April by the north central party stakeholders would decide on the way forward in the emergence of a new national chairman from the north central.
