The Italian Football Federation Confirms Luciano Spalletti as Its National Team Head Coach

—

The Italian Football Federation has confirmed Luciano Spalletti as the head coach of its national team until the 2026 World Cup, despite their elimination in the round of 16 of the 2024 Euros.

The Azzurri’s ambition to defend the Euros title was abruptly ended yesterday following a shambolic 2-0 defeat to Switzerland at the Olympiastadion, where the Azzurri became World Cup champions 18 years ago.
The 65-year-old Italian guided Napoli to their first major title in 33 years. Prior to that, he started his managerial career with Empoli in 1993 before going on to coach numerous clubs in Italy, including Roma, Inter Milan, Sampdoria, Udinese, and others.
He has also won several trophies, including the Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana, and the Russian Premier League with Zenit Saint Petersburg, among others.
