The Door is Open for Kwankwaso Ahead of 2027 Elections -APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it is open to welcoming Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Kano State governor and 2023 presidential candidate, as political realignments intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.

APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, made this known on Sunday during an interview on Trust TV, stressing that while there are no ongoing negotiations with Kwankwaso, the party is ready to receive him if he chooses to defect.

“Our doors are open for Kwankwaso. If he wishes to join, he will be warmly welcomed,” Yilwatda said.

His comments come amid growing political movements in Kano State, where several key figures of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have recently defected to the APC, fueling speculation about possible shifts in party loyalties.

Political analysts believe that a return of Kwankwaso to the APC could significantly alter political alliances and voter dynamics, particularly in northern Nigeria.

Kwankwaso, who contested the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the NNPP, has not publicly indicated any intention to defect. Meanwhile, the NNPP has dismissed reports claiming that the former governor made demands that could hinder a potential move.

As preparations for the 2027 polls gather momentum, political observers continue to monitor developments closely as parties reposition and strengthen their strategies.
