Afrobeats star, Davido (David Adeleke), recently made a bold claim that the best doctors in the United States are of Nigerian descent.
He shared this during an appearance on the Afric TV programme, where he highlighted the incredible contributions Africans are making across various sectors, both professional and creative.
Davido emphasized that Africans are some of the brightest minds in the global music scene, noting that even Western filmmakers are increasingly turning to the continent for inspiration.
“The best doctors in America are Nigerians,” he asserted, encouraging listeners to look it up. He further praised the creativity of Africans, sharing that even within his record label, Sony Music, Africans are bringing the most innovative ideas to the table. “Our imagination is off the grid,” he said.
The singer also pointed out that streaming giants like Netflix and Amazon Prime are now turning to Africa for fresh movie concepts. “Now, when you open Netflix, you’re likely to find two Nigerian films in the top 10.
Africa is next, trust me,” he confidently stated. He believes that the continent has so much to offer, with just a few key pieces needed to unlock its full potential.
While Davido’s pride in Nigerian doctors is inspiring, statistics don’t exactly back the claim that they are the “best” in the U.S. However, there’s no denying the significant impact Nigerians have made in medicine, the arts, and beyond.
