Nigerian musician and songwriter Teni Makanaki has been dropping snippets of her upcoming Album set to be released on November 17 2023.

Teni expresses her gratitude to God in the song “MALAIKA” from her next album, following a major operation to treat a potentially fatal throat illness. The album also serve as a testimony for what she has been through as a person.

She posted on her instagram handle and captioned it:

WHEN YOU FINALLY GET TO HEAR THIS ALBUM, I WANT YOU TO LISTEN FROM YOUR HEART, EMBRACE IT WITH YOUR SOUL AND I WANT YOU TO KNOW, I GAVE IT MY ALL, SPOKE MY TRUTH, STRAIGHT FROM MY HEART, AGAISNT ALL ODDS.

The revelation however is shocking because Teni has been online and very active. So people except her close friends and family.

About the Artist, Early life, Music career and Awards:

Born on December 23, 1993, Teniola Apata is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer who goes by the stage name Teni or Teni The performer.

Teni was born in Lagos State Nigeria and she is the younger sister of Niniola, who is also a Nigerian artist and songwriter.  She graduated from Apata Memorial High School, went to The University of Georgia, and then completed her studies at American InterContinental University, earning a business administration degree.

While Teni was signed to Magic Fingers Records by Shizzi, she released her debut single, “Amen”. In 2017, she joined with Dr. Dolor Entertainment after quitting the record label. Following the release of the single “Fargin” in September 2017, Teni began to gain notoriety. Her breakthrough came with the release of the hit singles “Askamaya,” “Case,” which Nigerian artist Snazzy the Optimist later adapted as “Upgrade,” and “Uyo Meyo.”On MTV Base’s list of the Top 20 Hottest Naija Tracks of 2018, “Askamaya” came in at number fifteen.

Teni was highlighted on YouTube Music’s Trending Artist on the Rise on February 20, 2019.She released the music video for “Sugar Mummy” on May 3, 2019. She dropped a new track called “Power Rangers” on June 14, 2019.

Teni took home two awards in 2018: the Nigeria Entertainment Awards’ Most Promising Act to Watch and the Headies Awards’ Rookie of the Year. In the 2018 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival, she also took home the Best New Artist title. On its list of the Top 10 Hottest Artists in Nigeria, NotJustOk placed her at number eight. She was included in the list of the six Nigerian breakthrough stars and viral hits of 2018 published by Premium Times.

Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari presented Teni with a Nigerian National Award in October 2022, calling her a Member of the Order of the Niger (MON).
