Terror Strikes Kogi as Attackers Kidnap More Than 30, Leave One Dead

Suspected terrorists have attacked Ayegunle Bunu community in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, killing one resident and abducting more than 30 people during a midnight raid.

The attack reportedly occurred at about 2:25 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026. According to local sources, the gunmen invaded the community, operating for several minutes without resistance before fleeing with dozens of victims to an unknown destination.

One person was confirmed dead during the attack, while another sustained injuries. Reports indicated that among those kidnapped were two residents of the community, a man and a woman.

The attackers were also said to have intercepted a commercial bus travelling through the area and abducted several passengers on board, increasing the number of victims taken during the raid.

Security agencies are yet to issue an official statement on the attack as efforts to rescue the abducted victims continue.
