Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems, shared that she wears baggy clothes in the studio to avoid distracting producers.
Tems, who felt self-conscious about her appearance, said producers’ attention on her looks almost made her lose confidence in herself.
On the Flow With Korty show, she explained that her body became a hurdle in her career, prompting her to switch from cute outfits to baggy ones to lessen the focus on her appearance, especially in the studio.
“I didn’t always like my body and didn’t understand a lot. I was visiting many studios alone, meeting new people, and asking for help with producing music,” she said. “Since I just want to make music, if my looks are a distraction, I’ll address it. So, I wear baggy clothes to the studio to make sure I’m not a distraction.”
