As the deadline for the Federal Government’s ambitious 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme draws near, applicants are facing a barrage of technical hurdles, casting doubt on the smooth execution of the initiative aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s digital economy.
With the March 31, 2024 deadline looming, the 3MTT programme is grappling with technical glitches, leaving many applicants frustrated and uncertain about their participation.
Numerous applicants have voiced concerns over encountering errors in questionnaires, difficulties in saving profiles, and various other technical malfunctions while attempting to navigate the registration process.
Launched with the ambitious objective of training three million technical talents to catalyze Nigeria’s digital economy and generate two million digital jobs by 2025, the 3MTT programme faces a critical juncture in its implementation.
Despite the challenges, the first cohort of 30,000 individuals embarked on training across 12 skill areas, marking a significant milestone in the programme’s initial phase.
Complaints from applicants continue to mount, ranging from errors in questionnaire tests to struggles in accepting terms and conditions for onboarding, underscoring the depth of the technical hurdles plaguing the registration process.
In response to the mounting concerns, the 3MTT team announced a system upgrade and extended the deadline for profile updates to March 31, 2024, providing a glimmer of hope for frustrated applicants.
Despite the challenges, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Bosun Tijani revealed a surge in enrollment, with an additional 270,000 Nigerians poised to undergo training over the next 18 months, signaling continued momentum for the programme.
With the second phase of the programme slated to commence following announcements on February 29, 2024, stakeholders eagerly anticipate developments aimed at addressing the technical obstacles hindering the registration process.
