TCN Announces Planned Power Outage in Ondo for Substation Upgrade

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a planned 10-hour power outage at its Ondo 132/33kV Transmission Substation on Tuesday to facilitate ongoing network upgrade works.

The company’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to her, the scheduled outage will last from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will enable TCN engineers to transfer the Ife–Ondo 132kV transmission line from the proposed Omotosho–Ondo 132kV line bay to the Ife–Ondo 132kV line bay.

Mbah added that the commissioning of a newly installed 60 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) 132/33kV transformer would also be carried out during the exercise.

She said the planned maintenance would temporarily prevent the Benin Electricity Distribution Company from supplying electricity to customers in Ondo Town and Okitipupa throughout the 10-hour period.

“Consequently, Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) will be unable to off-take power supply to its customers in Okitipupa and Ondo Town during the 10-hour outage,” she said.

Mbah apologised for the disruption, saying, “TCN apologises for any inconvenience this will cause electricity consumers in the affected areas.”
