Reports have it that a presiding Magistrate, O. A. Omofolarin at the Ondo State Magistrate Court has remanded one Adua Fatogun, a tailor for allegedly stealing a pot of soup.
The 19-year-old suspect who allegedly stole gas cylinders, and other items worth N311,100, was equally dragged before the court over the offence of burglary and theft, which he committed on October 12, 2023, at about 9am at Ifeleye Street, Ayeyemi in Ondo town.
It was also gathered that the defendant stole the property of three persons namely; Felix Ogunbolade, Adeoga Aboodun, and Akinsete Adurayemi.
Meanwhile, the Police prosecutor, Bernard Olagbayi, stated that the offences contravened Section 383 and were punishable under Section 412(1), 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State.
Even though the defendant was not legally represented, he however pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge read to him.
While Olagbayi urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to present the prosecution witnesses and prepare them for the trial, the presiding Magistrate, O. A. Omofolarin, in her ruling, remanded the defendant till February 19, 2024, for trial.
