Suspected Child Killer Burnt to Death by Mob in Keffi

—

Tension engulfed Keffi town in Nasarawa State on Thursday after a suspected child killer was lynched by an angry mob in the Tsohon Kasuwa area, following the gruesome death of a young boy.

Eyewitnesses said the suspect, identified as Samaila Zaria, allegedly murdered the child under disturbing circumstances and removed his eyeballs, a development that sparked widespread outrage and grief across the community.

According to residents, news of the incident spread quickly, drawing a large crowd to the scene.

In a wave of anger, the mob reportedly overpowered the suspect and set him on fire before security operatives could arrive. He was burnt beyond recognition at the spot.

The tragic event has left the community in deep mourning, with many residents describing the killing of the child as horrifying and the mob action as a reflection of growing frustration over insecurity and violent crimes.

Some community members called on authorities to strengthen security presence and ensure swift justice in order to prevent similar incidents.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had yet to issue an official statement.

However, sources indicated that efforts were ongoing to restore calm in the area while investigations into both the child’s death and the mob killing continue.

Community leaders have appealed to residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding, warning against jungle justice and emphasizing the importance of allowing the legal system to handle criminal matters.
