Suspect Arrested After Vowing to ‘Destroy’ Police Stations

The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Oluchukwu Anyaoku, who was seen in a viral video allegedly threatening to destroy police facilities in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed the arrest in a statement issued on Wednesday in Awka.

According to the statement obtained by The News Chronicle, Ikenga explained that the suspect was picked up after a video surfaced online showing him making threats of violence and boasting that he would destroy all police formations in Obosi.

He said officers attached to the Obosi Division acted swiftly after the video was intercepted on December 2.

“The suspect was traced, arrested and taken into custody for questioning.

“The operatives also recovered a firearm and a cutlass in his possession.

“Preliminary observations indicate that the suspect may require professional medical evaluation, and appropriate procedures are being followed in this regard”, he said.

The Police PRO added that the matter has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for a thorough investigation and further scrutiny of all gathered evidence.
