Supreme Court, Enforce The True Will Of The People Of Nasarawa State – Protesters

—

A ton of protesters under the aegis of the Indigenous People Of Nasarawa State have occupied a major highway in Lafia the Nasarawa State Capital, to protest what they described as the wrongful declaration of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule as the winner of the March 18 Governorship Elections in the State.

Addressing newsman in Lafia on Saturday 25th November 2023, one of the conveners of the protest Mr Kefas Tigga expressed the group’s displeasure over what they regarded as the wrongful declaration of Governor Abdullahi A Sule as the winner of the March 18 Governorship Elections in the State.

Tigga who described the affirmation of Abdullahi A Sule by the appellate court as a deviation from democratic process, expressed the group’s disappointment in how the democratic rights of the indigenous people of Nasarawa State have been relegated to the background due to its non reflection in the recent Court Judgment.

He emphasized that the Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party PDP David Emmanuel Ombugadu rightfully won the gubernatorial election in the State adding that the indigenous people of Nasarawa State have suffered persecution arising from either their religious or ethnic beliefs.

The aggrieved youth ceased the opportunity to appeal to the Supreme Court whom he said was their last hope to enforce the true will of the people of Nasarawa State as he equally called on the international bodies such as the United Nation, the ECOWAS, United States and other well meaning entities to wade in and safeguard the democratic practices in Nasarawa State.

The protesters who throng out in their large numbers were seen carrying placards with different inscriptions all in disapproval of the declaration of Governor Abdullahi A Sule as Governor of Nasarawa State.

As of the time of filing this report leadership of the APC in the State has not issued a statement in response to the protest.

Recall that the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja had on Thursday 23th November 2023 affirmed the election of Governor Abdullahi A Sule in contrast to the Tribunal judgement that was earlier delivered in favor of David Emmanuel Ombugadu of the PDP.
