Super Sevilla Beat Klopp’s Flops For Record Europa Win

Sevilla made it three wins in three straight seasons in the Europa League yesterday, with a resounding 3-1 win over Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in Basel, Switzerland.

This means the Spanish side will return to the Champions League again next season.
Daniel Sturridge opened the scoring for Liverpool with a stunning finish from the outside of his left boot, but Kevin Gameiro equalised within minutes of the break after meeting a superb Mariano cross.

Skipper of the Spanish side, Coke scored twice in six minutes to seal an historic victory for the Spaniards, leaving Jurgen Klopp to contemplate another final defeat in a fog of impotent fury.

He has never won a final, whether in Germany, England and Europe, but when Liverpool took the lead here it looked as if that dire run may be broken, but the English side, like many this season, lost the plot and could not find their way to their foes’ goal.

By the time the game got into the late stages, it was clear that Unai Emery’s wards had claimed another terrific win and the stadium erupted in euphoria – except for Liverpool’s travelluing fans who buried their faces in their banner, as they tried to understand how the trophy which was quite close 90 minutes before eluded them.

It would be on record, though, that they were undone by weak defending, with Alberto Moreno, being the worst culprit of the evening.
