Former Super Eagles player Daniel Omokachi has rejected his role as one of the assistants to the newly appointed Super Eagles coach, Finidi George, after the legend and the NFF couldn’t agree on a payment structure.
Contrary to widespread information that the 51-year-old refused to work under Finidi, Omokachi rejected the assistant role because the NFF had not planned a structured salary for his position; he would only be paid per invitation and not on a monthly basis. He wanted his income structured on a monthly basis, which was against what the NFF President, Ibrahim Gasau, had offered.
Recall that Omokachi is one of the three appointed managers to assist Finidi George in discharging his duties as the head coach, but “De Bull,” as he’s popularly known during his playing days, has not reported to the Uyo camp barely 24 hours before Nigeria’s World Cup qualifiers match day three against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
Nigeria will take on the Bafana Bafana tomorrow at the Nest of Champions in Uyo as they quest to make a World Cup return, having lost the 2022 spot to neighbors Black Stars of Ghana.
