Super Eagles Begin Turkey Camp Ahead of Iran and Jordan Friendlies

Nigeria’s national team has opened camp in Antalya, Turkey, as preparations begin for upcoming international friendlies against Iran and Jordan.

Players and officials arrived earlier this week, with home-based members of the delegation already settled, while Europe-based players joined from their respective clubs.

The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Iran on Friday before taking on Jordan on March 31, with both matches now set to be played in Turkey following security concerns in the Middle East.

The fixtures form part of Nigeria’s rebuilding phase after missing out on qualification for the 2026 World Cup. Head coach Eric Chelle has assembled a 23-man squad featuring a mix of experienced players, returning names, and new additions.

Key players in camp include Maduka Okoye, Frank Onyeka, Samuel Chukwueze, and Paul Onuachu, as well as fresh faces such as Emmanuel Fernandez and Philip Otele. The blend reflects a renewed effort to reshape the squad and test new options.

The News Chronicle understands that the technical crew is using the friendlies to assess team balance, build cohesion, and identify long-term solutions as the Super Eagles look to regain competitive strength on the international stage.

For their opponents, the matches also serve as important preparation, with both Iran and Jordan using the games to fine-tune their squads ahead of upcoming global competitions.
