Governor Danbaba Fulani Suntai, the Governor of Taraba State, who miraculously survived an air crash last October, is expected back in Nigeria, today. The Governor left New York yesterday afternoon aboard a United States Chattered flight and is expected at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja this afternoon. His wife, Hajiya Hauwa Suntai, yesterday arrived Jalingo, the Taraba state capital, in preparation for the reception of the Governor.
Suntai survived a crash in a plane he piloted near Yola, Adamawa State, on October 25 last year. He was first taken to Germany for treatment before he was transferred to the United States.
He spent about ten months ten months, receiving medical attention in Germany and the US.
The Governor’s illness and recuperation has been mired in high wire politics and intrigues in Taraba State, with those opposed to him making efforts to remove him as Governor while his loyalists painted a picture of a Governor who was recuperating very fast and would soon return to resume his duties.
