Start Packing Your Bags — MURIC Sends Strong Message to Gov Adeleke Ahead of Osun Poll

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has urged Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to begin preparing to vacate the Government House, claiming that residents of the state have rejected his administration ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The group made the call in a statement issued on Monday by its Executive Director, Professor Isiaq Akintola.

Akintola alleged that Governor Adeleke had disappointed the people of Osun State, citing reports that the recently commissioned flyover in Osogbo developed defects barely three weeks after it was inaugurated.

He also accused the governor of concentrating governance around Ede, his hometown, and criticised what he described as the administration’s handling of local government affairs in the state.

“As preparations for the August 15, 2026, governorship election in Osun gather momentum, we advise Governor Ademola Adeleke to start packing his dancing kits out of Oke-Fia Government House before it is too late.

“For the flyover allegedly damaged after three weeks, the alleged ‘Edenisation’ of governance, the alleged mishandling of local government affairs, alleged examination malpractice, among other issues, we cannot remain silent.

“Governor Adeleke has crossed the Rubicon. He will be roundly defeated in the August 15, 2026, governorship election. That will be his punishment for playing on the intelligence of Osun Muslims,” the statement said.

MURIC maintained that the alleged shortcomings of the Adeleke administration had eroded public confidence and insisted that the governor would face rejection at the polls.
