Standard Chartered To Promote Inclusion For Parental Leave

Standard Chartered Bank has expanded its global parental leave offerings for its employees. The bank will also standardise the entries of parental leave days that it will be granted effective from September 1, 2023.

This is aimed at giving parents the opportunity to take on a greater proportion of care for their kids.

With the new development, employees will have access to at least 20 weeks of paid parental leave regardless of gender, relationship status, or route toward family planning.

The benefits are also designed to ensure that working parents get needed support and also they are part of the bank’s aim at encouraging an inclusive culture.

Standard Chartered also claims that this offers an avenue where employees are supported in balancing their careers with their personal lives.

Acting Head of Human Resources, Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Ltd, Efe Nwagu, in a statement, said:”We are always looking for new and innovative ways to promote inclusiveness, enhance the work environment, and support colleagues in realizing their full potential.”

“In our opinion, benefits like this address widely held social norms about traditional roles, increase labor force participation and give people who want to take on shared childcare duties more options. This will benefit families’ financial security and build a more inviting work atmosphere that respects each individual’s unique family planning decisions.”

“We hope that by taking these steps, other companies from various industries will be motivated to do the same.”

In conclusion, he stated, “If we come together, we can form a movement that builds a more inclusive society.”
