Spotify has announced a new feature called “managed accounts,” designed specifically for users under 13.
This feature, which gives parents more control over their children’s listening experience, is currently being piloted in Denmark, New Zealand, and Sweden, available to Family Plan subscribers.
Through the “managed accounts” feature, parents can block access to explicit content, including specific artists, tracks, and even videos.
This new option provides more granular control compared to Spotify’s existing Kids app, allowing for a tailored listening environment for younger users.
Spotify joins other tech giants like TikTok, Meta, Snap, and YouTube, which have introduced similar parental control features in response to increasing regulatory pressure.
The company hopes the new feature will encourage families sharing a single account to upgrade to the Family plan, benefiting from personalized recommendations and more accurate Wrapped statistics.
Parents can easily add their child’s account via the Accounts page in the app, providing a seamless way to ensure a safer, more customized listening experience.
