West Ham to appeal Feghouli red card

West Ham are appealing against the red card shown to Sofiane Feghouli during Monday’s defeat by Manchester United.

The midfielder was sent off by referee Mike Dean for a challenge on Red Devils defender Phil Jones 15 minutes into a match the Hammers lost 2-0.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic said Jones “made a meal” of the tackle from the Algeria international.

Feghouli is the fifth player to be dismissed by Dean in the Premier League this season.

Sagna must explain Instagram post

Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna must explain his “10 against 12” Instagram post made after his side’s 2-1 win over Burnley on Monday.

City were reduced to 10-men from the 32nd minute after referee Lee Mason sent off midfielder Fernandinho.

Sagna has deleted the post but the Football Association has contacted the full-back to ask for his observations.

He has until 17:00 GMT on Friday to respond.

However, on-loan Jack Wilshere is ineligible against his parent club and Marc Pugh remains an injury doubt.

Arsenal could be without midfielder Mesut Ozil, who missed the win over Crystal Palace through illness.

Mohamed Elneny is at the Africa Cup of Nations, while Theo Walcott and Kieran Gibbs could miss out through injury.

Manchester City are reportedly planning to use the January transfer window to strengthen their midfield.

The decision was brought about by Ilkay Gundogan’s knee injury, which will rule him out for a lengthy period of time.

Steven N’Zonzi, who currently plays for Sevilla, is one name linked with Man City.
