The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating terrorism in the country.

They mentioned intensifying combat operations, deploying special forces, and using battlefield enablers in hotspots, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Plateau State.

The military warned against maliciously disparaging them, emphasizing adherence to the law.

Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba and Brig.-Gen. Tulur Gusau, in Abuja, highlighted heightened operations in FCT suburbs such as Cashew Forest, Kwaku, Gwombe, Gadoro, and Tukuba in Kuje Area Council.

Also, in Bwari Area Council, areas like Kawu, Igu, Tokulo, Gaba, Zuma 1 and 2, Shere, Mpape, Jikoko, Berger Quarry, and Nukuchi villages were mentioned.

Operations extended to neighboring states like Gauraka, Apo Forest, Gyedna/Sabon Wusa, and Garam in Niger State, as well as Numan and Basa in Nasarawa State.

Buba acknowledged the impact of insurgency on citizens in various regions and assured ongoing efforts to address security challenges.

He emphasized the military’s commitment to eliminating terrorism and creating a secure environment.

Brig.-Gen. Gusau cautioned against spreading falsehoods, addressing claims of bias against troops in Mangu LGA of Plateau State.

He emphasized the military’s neutrality and professionalism, warning against malicious comments and constitutional consequences for spreading false information.

Regarding the Plateau crisis, Gusau stated that Operation Safe Haven troops were reinforced in Mangu to enforce curfews, maintaining professionalism and adherence to rules of engagement.

The military also provided updates on nationwide operations, including the neutralization of 94 criminals, arrest of 171 individuals, and the rescue of 29 kidnapped hostages.

Capt. James Oya of Operation SAFE HAVEN reported the arrest of youths attacking Airforce personnel in Kerang, Mangu LGA, with the recovery of weapons.
