The Special Assistant to the Kaduna State Governor on the School Feeding Program, Dr. Fauziya Buhari-Ado, has called for the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy aimed at improving the infrastructure of schools in Nigeria.Â
She emphasized that enhancing educational facilities is crucial for improving the quality of education across the country, with a particular focus on the Northern region.
Dr. Fauziya highlighted the vital role that the school feeding program plays in this effort, noting its importance in tackling challenges faced by schoolchildren.
In an interview with reporters in Abuja, on Thursday evening, Dr. Fauziya outlined the pressing need for a holistic approach that not only addresses infrastructural deficits but also supports families economically.
“We have observed a significant increase in the number of girls attending school, which marks a positive shift from past trends. However, to sustain and build upon this progress, it is critical that we focus on strengthening the infrastructure of our schools,” Dr. Fauziya stated.
She further emphasized the need for continuous investment in teacher training programs to equip educators with the skills necessary to provide quality education.
Additionally, she underscored the importance of maintaining and expanding the school feeding program, which has been instrumental in encouraging school attendance.
Dr. Fauziya expressed her concern that, while the rising number of girls in school is a sign of societal change, there remains substantial work to be done to ensure that all children have equal opportunities to succeed academically.
“Every child, particularly girls, must have the opportunity to thrive in their educational pursuits and build a brighter future. The increasing turnout of girls in schools is encouraging, but there is still much to be done,” she remarked.
She stressed that improving school facilities and addressing the basic needs of students are critical steps in this journey. Providing essential supplies, such as soap and detergent for proper hygiene, is one of the measures that she believes will significantly enhance the learning environment.
“By focusing on these areas, we can create a school environment where all children, regardless of their background, have access to the resources they need to succeed,” she added.
Dr. Fauziya also expressed her deep gratitude to Governor Uba Sani for his unwavering commitment to the School Feeding Program in Kaduna State.
She praised the Governor for his dedication to improving the educational landscape and for the confidence he has placed in her to lead this important initiative.
Furthermore, she extended her appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support in empowering young people to play an active role in driving the Renewed Hope Agenda across all sectors of the economy.
