Speaker Urges Traditional Rulers to Promote Unity and Peace in Nasarawa

The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, has called on traditional rulers to continue fostering unity and peace in their communities to ensure development thrives.

Mr. Jatau made this appeal on Sunday in Akwanga during a thanksgiving service marking the 5th anniversary of the installation and 50th birthday of Habila Aboki, the traditional ruler of Chim Nku.

Highlighting the importance of unity and peace for societal progress, the Speaker urged traditional rulers to help reconcile their people and promote harmony.

He congratulated the second-class traditional ruler on his dual celebration, wishing him good health, protection, and wisdom in the years ahead.

“Today is a significant day in your life,” he said. “On behalf of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, I extend my congratulations and wish you many more prosperous years. I also appeal to you, as a leader, to continue advocating for peace in your domain and beyond. God will use you to bring reconciliation among your people and others.”

Mr. Jatau also encouraged the public to pray for and support Governor Abdullahi Sule and other leaders.

“Prayer is vital. When you trust in God, He will not fail you. We pray for God’s protection, guidance, blessings, and good health for you,” he added.

Other dignitaries, including former Deputy Governor James Angbazo and former Environment Commissioner Kwanta Yakubu, also congratulated Habila Aboki on his milestone. They prayed for wisdom and good health for him.

In his remarks, Mr. Aboki expressed gratitude to God for his life and the lives of his family members. He also thanked Governor Sule, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders for their support.

“I am committed to promoting unity and peace among my people and others,” he assured.

During the sermon, ERCC General Secretary Rev. Gagara Mallunche emphasized the importance of gratitude to God. Citing Psalms 50:14-16, he urged Christians to adopt a spirit of thanksgiving to attract God’s blessings.

The cleric also prayed for the unity, peace, and progress of Nasarawa State and Nigeria as a whole.
