Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, is currently facing a severe flood disaster that has caused significant disruptions to daily life.
Reports indicate that some traders are now selling a packet of spaghetti for as much as N2,000, a price that has alarmed many residents who are already struggling to cope with the harsh conditions caused by the flood.
The price of pure water sachets, a basic necessity, has also seen a sharp increase, rising from N20 to N30 per sachet.
In addition to the soaring prices of food and water, the cost of charging mobile phones, which has become critical due to power outages in some parts of the city, has surged to N300 per charge.
Residents are expressing concern over the escalating costs, fearing that the situation could worsen if the flood continues and relief efforts do not arrive in time.
