Son Arrested For Killing His Father in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has taken into custody a 38-year-old man, Nsikak Kingsley, over the alleged killing of his father, Adone Peter.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday in Akure.

He said the incident occurred in Oda Community, within Akure South Local Government Area of the state.

According to preliminary findings, the suspect was said to have been involved in a heated disagreement with his 65-year-old father on May 28, which later degenerated into a violent confrontation.

“During the confrontation, the deceased reportedly sustained severe injuries, particularly on the head. He was immediately rushed to a medical facility for urgent medical attention.

“Sadly, despite efforts by medical personnel, the attending doctor confirmed him dead while receiving treatment.

“Following a formal complaint lodged at the police station by Daniel Moses, a son of the deceased and brother to the suspect, detectives promptly commenced investigation into the matter.

“Acting swiftly on the report, police operatives apprehended the suspect and took him into custody for questioning,” he said.

Jimoh added that the corpse had been deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

He further stated that the suspect would be prosecuted upon the completion of investigations.

Reaffirming the Command’s resolve, he stressed that justice would be pursued to its logical conclusion and anyone found guilty would face the full force of the law.

He also advised residents to avoid violence and seek peaceful, lawful means of resolving disputes in all situations.
