In Jigawa State, the police caught a 32-year-old man named Samuel Shegun. They say he killed his own mother.
The police commissioner, CP. AT Abdullahi, talked about this at the police headquarters in Dutse, the state’s capital.
A woman named Esther Adekanla, also known as Hadiza Nakowa, was found dead in her house in Dutse.
She was 47 years old. The police investigated and found Samuel Shegun, who lives near a place called Awajil filling Station Dutse. They think he killed his mother and hurt his sister.
They caught him by tracking his mother’s phone. Samuel admitted that on February 12, 2024, around 10:00 PM, his mother came home from selling food.
She started fighting with a young girl named Christiana Michael. She even had a knife. Samuel tried to stop the fight, but they all fell down, and his mother cut herself on the neck with the knife.
Samuel got scared and didn’t want the police to catch him, so he took his mother’s phones, locked the house, and ran away.
CP. Abdullahi said “the little girl, who is recuperating from various injuries sustained, is still under medical care and responding to treatment.”
The young girl, Christiana Michael, got hurt in the fight. She’s still in the hospital, but she’s getting better. She told the police that Samuel did everything.
