Soludo Lauds Dr. Adaora Umeoji on Appointment as First Female GMD of Zenith Bank

—

The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has conveyed his warmest congratulations to Dr. Adaora Umeoji, OON, on her recent appointment as the first female Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank Plc.

Governor Soludo in his congratulatory message expressed happiness that her elevation to this esteemed position not only marks a significant milestone in her illustrious career but also stands as a confirmation of her dogged commitment as a top executive in the banking industry

He noted that Dr. Umeoji’s appointment as the first female Group Managing Director of the bank reflects a remarkable advancement towards gender equality and inclusivity in the corporate world, reaffirming the limitless potential and capabilities of female professionals in driving organisational success and societal progress.

Furthermore, with her impressive academic credentials, solid experience acquired over three decades in her industry, and her contributions to nation-building which earned her the conferment of the national honour of the Officer of the Order of the Niger by the Federal Government, the governor is confident Dr. Umeoji will make a resounding success of her new role.

As an indigene of Anambra State, Governor Soludo noted that Dr Adaora Umeoji joins the esteemed ranks of amazons and trailblazing women like Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, OON, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Bank Plc, also a first female CEO and a daughter of the state. The Governor further highlighted the significance of their appointments as a testament of women in leadership positions and urged other organizations to follow the Banks’ example

Governor Soludo, therefore, wished Dr. Adaora Umeoji a successful tenure in office as she steers Zenith Bank to greater heights of success and prosperity.

Dr Umeoji will assume her new role from June 1, 2024, replacing Ebenezer Onyeagwu whose five years tenure will end on May 31, 2024
