Soldiers Recover Bomb Materials, Medical Supplies in Borno State

Troops of 5 Brigade, Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with hybrid forces, have recovered improvised explosive device (IED) materials and assorted medical supplies during a clearance operation in the Kareto general area of Borno State.
A military source told Security Analyst that the operation was conducted on Sunday August 9, 2026, following credible intelligence indicating that terrorists were hibernating in the area.
The troops, comprising 90 soldiers and led by the Acting Commander, Col. S.O. Bello, mobilised to the area alongside hybrid forces.

According to the source, the terrorists fled upon sighting the advancing troops, abandoning a toolbox suspected to have been used for IED emplacement, as well as two IED canisters.
The troops subsequently carried out further exploitation of the area and recovered 10 sacks containing assorted medical materials and drugs.
The recovered items included antibiotics, pain relievers, anti-malaria drugs, intravenous fluids, multivitamin tablets and a blood pressure monitoring apparatus.
The troops also advanced towards Wolkiti Village in an effort to locate the fleeing terrorists but did not make contact with them before returning to base at about 5:45 p.m.
The recovery is expected to disrupt the terrorists’ access to medical supplies and their ability to facilitate the emplacement of IEDs along routes used by security forces and civilians.
Military operations remain ongoing in the area as troops intensify efforts to locate and apprehend the fleeing terrorists.
