Sokoto State University (SSU) has issued a security alert to all staff and students following intelligence from the Department of State Services (DSS) indicating that the security situation in Sokoto State has been raised to Red Status.
In a notice issued by the university management obtained by The News Chronicle on Sunday, members of the university community were urged to remain vigilant, security-conscious and alert at all times in view of the heightened security situation.
The University Security Committee directed students and staff to immediately report any suspicious persons, movements, activities or objects observed within or around the university premises to the Security Unit.

The university also urged members of the community to fully cooperate with security personnel and comply with all security measures introduced to protect lives and property.
Students and staff were further advised to exercise personal caution while moving within and outside the university premises and to remain conscious of their surroundings.
The management assured the university community and the general public that its security team remains fully alert and is working closely with relevant security agencies to safeguard the campus and prevent potential threats.
While stressing that security is a collective responsibility, the university urged staff and students not to panic, but to remain calm, vigilant and responsible.
