This recent event in Sokoto marked the commencement of the initiative. Lamido emphasized that these beneficiaries were selected from the eight local government areas within his senatorial district, aiming to distribute support across the community.
Each student, according to Lamido, would receive ₦50,000. The senator, who couldn’t be present, delegated the task to Alhaji Muhammad Alaaro, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Illela Local Government Area.
Lamido clarified that the motive behind this initiative was to aid students from the state, recognizing the prevailing economic challenges nationwide.
He acknowledged that his constituency faced both security and economic difficulties due to the removal of fuel subsidies.
Expressing hope that this gesture would alleviate the students’ hardships, the senator highlighted that a similar effort had benefited 1,000 students in the preceding three months.
He pledged to continue supporting students, viewing it as a strategy to empower the youth and contribute to their well-being.
While addressing the students, Lamido’s representative, Alhaji Muhammad Alaaro, urged them to use the funds judiciously.
