Sokoto Govt Rejects Non-Indigenes Listed in Its Army SSC Slot

The Sokoto State Government has issued a clarification regarding the recently released shortlist for the Nigerian Army Short Service Combatant Commission (SSC) Course 49/2026.

In a statement released on Wednesday night by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, authorities confirmed that three individuals listed under the Sokoto slot are not indigenes of the state.

The names identified include Alaka Abraham, Sa’idu Bulus, and Onoja John, who appeared on serial numbers 17, 22, and 24 of the national list.

According to the government, the Nigerian Army requires applicants to apply strictly based on their State of Origin and not their State of Residence, in line with Federal Character guidelines.

To safeguard opportunities meant for genuine Sokoto indigenes, the Special Adviser on Careers and Counselling, Alhaji Garba Bello Kebbe, announced that the state has taken immediate action.

Relevant authorities have been notified to ensure the wrongly listed candidates do not occupy recruitment slots reserved for Sokoto State.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, transparency, and protection of citizens’ rights in all federal recruitment processes.
