Social Influencer Fegor Chime Stresses Financial Independence for Women in Marriage
Fegor Chime
In a compelling Facebook post, social influencer Fegor Chime sparked an important conversation about financial independence within marriages.
Fegor, known for her candid discussions on social issues, used her personal platform to highlight the often overlooked aspect of financial planning for women who are married.
Reflecting on the divorce of a close friend who she once thought had a perfect marriage, Fegor expressed her shock and disbelief at the separation that ended with the return of the dowry six years later. This incident led her to question the preparedness of women to handle financial responsibilities alone if their spouses were to unexpectedly pass away.
Nobody gets married to be separated or divorced. But what if your husband dies today? Will you be able to take care of your children alone?” she posed to her audience, urging them to consider this scenario seriously rather than dismissing it as improbable.
Fegor narrated the plight of women who, after the death of a spouse, struggle to support themselves and their children, especially if they had previously depended entirely on their husband’s income. She pointed out that some women are left in dire straits, unable to even feed themselves, let alone their children.
Emphasizing the importance of financial autonomy, Fegor advised, “In as much as marriage is important, having a backup financial source is even more critical.”
She counseled women to ensure they have their own sources of income and not to quit their jobs impulsively due to a spouse’s preferences.
Highlighting the unpredictable nature of life and relationships, which can include the death of a spouse, divorce, or domestic violence, Fegor underscored that one’s mental health and well-being often hinge on financial security and knowledge.
Her post has resonated widely, igniting discussions about the necessity of financial preparedness and independence among married women, reminding her followers that all couples that face marital crises once loved each other deeply.
