Skales Responds to Wizkid’s Claim That “Hip-Hop Is Dead”

—

Nigerian rapper and singer Skales has responded to Afrobeats star Wizkid’s claim that “hip-hop is dead.”

In an interview with Hip TV, Skales said, “Everyone has their opinion. Wizkid thinks hip-hop is dead, but that’s just his opinion. I believe everything has its time and season.

“Things come and go, and there’s always a cycle. If you’re popular today, you might not be tomorrow. Today, people might love rap; tomorrow, they’ll prefer Afrobeats, and the day after, it could be Amapiano.

“So, I don’t think hip-hop is dead. It’s just not its time right now. The excitement has shifted to something else. Soon, people might say Afrobeats is dead. It’s all about timing. Nothing lasts forever. That’s why we all die someday.”
