Six Feared Dead in Niger Clash

—

Six people have reportedly lost their lives in a market clash between Gbayi Vigilante and Fulani herdsmen in Beji, Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

This latest clash marks the second in a month involving the two parties, with the first reported to have claimed two lives and left several others badly injured.

Anonymous sources revealed that the tribal clash resulted from ceaseless banditry in the area persisting since July. They added that the increased killing and kidnapping have led to a severe lack of shelter for most residents.

However, the sources say that the intervention by security forces in the area has assisted in curtailing the level of killing.

The Niger State Commissioner for Homeland, Bello Muhammed Agaie, assured that the Niger State Government was meeting with relevant authorities to address the spate of insecurity in the area. He gave this assurance during the Skills Acquisition Programme sponsored by the Nigerian Airforce at the Nigerian Airforce Base, Maikunkule.
