Singer, Zlatan Cites Corruption In Nigerian Football System As Reason He Could Not Pursue Football Career

—

Zlatan Ibile, a Nigerian musician, recently revealed something unexpected about his early dreams and his path into the music industry. Unlike what is commonly believed, his venture into the music industry was accidental rather than planned.

Zlatan Ibile acknowledged that his early ambition was to play football, specifically to play for the legendary FC Barcelona, rather than to become a singer. But because of difficulties he had in high school and his disappointment with Nigeria’s corrupt football system, his life took an unexpected turn.

The music star admitted that he wasn’t a very exceptional student after thinking back on his difficulties in the classroom, especially in areas like accounting and mathematics. His disappointment at not passing his WAEC exams made him even more depressed, and he considered staying at home for a year.

It was in this uncertain time that destiny became involved. A friend played him a song that the friend had written, and the friend then took him to a recording studio. Zlatan Ibile became fascinated with the creative process and was drawn to the music industry.

TheĀ  Zanku master recalled, “I never had the intention of being a musician.” He was talking about his journey from ambitious football player to aspiring musician. However, events forced him to choose a different course, which he enthusiastically and resolutely followed.

ā€œI tried my possible best but the corruption in Nigerian football discouraged me. I was playing for a local club then. When I failed WAEC, I was going to sit down at home for a year, and then one of my friends came and played his record for me. I told him to take me to the studio the next time he was going. That was how I became a musician. I never had the intention of being a musician.ā€

Zlatan Ibile’s musical career has been successful and well-received despite the unanticipated diversion. He became well-known as “Zanku” crooner, demonstrating the value of taking advantage of chances and adjusting to unanticipated events.
