Simi Criticizes Police Response to Child Exploitation Case

Popular singer Simi, also known as Simisola Kosoko, has criticized the Nigeria Police for their response to a disturbing situation involving a four-year-old girl named Sarah Suleman, who was being exploited on social media by her father.

 

The Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated that the father had been arrested but the police planned to counsel rather than prosecute him and his wife. He emphasized the need to educate people about the consequences of their actions and mentioned alternatives to prosecution like Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Community Service Responsibility (CSR).

 

Simi reacted strongly to this, questioning why the police would choose counseling over punishment for parents who were clearly exploiting their young child. She expressed shock and disbelief at the situation.
