Shock in Maiduguri as 27-Year-Old Allegedly Kills Close Friend

A tragic incident has rocked the Gonidamgari community in Maiduguri, Borno State, after a 27-year-old man identified as Kaka Adam allegedly stabbed his friend to death on Saturday morning.
The victim, identified as Bako, 30, was reportedly killed around 9:00 a.m. following an altercation whose cause remains unclear.
According to eyewitnesses, residents were alerted after hearing loud screams and cries from a nearby house.
“We heard screaming and crying from our neighbor around 9:00 a.m., so we rushed to see what was happening,” an eyewitness told The News Chronicle.
Sources said the suspect, Kaka Adam, who reportedly lost his parents years ago, was immediately arrested by officers of the Nigerian Police Force shortly after the incident.
Speaking to The News Chronicle, a relative of the suspect described Kaka Adam as a calm and peaceful individual, expressing shock over the incident.
“Kaka Adam and Bako had been friends for a very long time; they were like brothers, and everybody in the community knows them. We do not actually know what happened between them,” the relative said.
The source further alleged that before the incident, Kaka Adam had sent his wife to withdraw money using the victim’s ATM card.
“Before his wife returned, Kaka Adam allegedly stabbed Bako to death. We still don’t know exactly what happened between them, but this is the information we can provide for now,” the relative added.
The suspect and his wife are currently being detained by the Borno State Police Command as investigations into the incident continue.
