Shettima at 59: Tinubu Praises VP, Says He Made the Right Choice

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima on his 59th birthday, saying he has no regrets about choosing him as his deputy.

In a Press statement obtained by The News Chronicle on Tuesday, Tinubu described Shettima as a loyal partner and dependable ally in the drive to build a more prosperous Nigeria through the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Today, September 2, 2025, gives me another opportunity to celebrate you, my brother, partner, and Vice President, as you mark another birthday,” Tinubu said.

He praised Shettima’s courage, resilience, and sense of duty, recalling his years as Borno State governor and later as a senator. According to Tinubu, Shettima proved that leadership is about service, not privilege, even in difficult times.

The President also thanked him for his loyalty and support in government, stressing that his choice of Shettima as deputy was based on competence and qualities Nigeria could rely on.

“Every day as Vice President, you have justified that choice. Your dedication reassures me that I made the right decision,” Tinubu said.

He noted that Shettima has played an important role in driving reforms at home, securing international partnerships, and supporting efforts to improve food security and investments.

Tinubu added that their partnership would continue to deliver results that Nigerians can see and feel, including in trade, education, healthcare, and job creation.

Beyond politics, Tinubu said his bond with Shettima goes deeper than official duties, describing it as a relationship that unites regions and traditions with a shared commitment to Nigeria.

“On your 59th birthday, I wish you good health, wisdom, and many more years of impact. Happy birthday, Kashim,” the President concluded.
