SGBV Moves to Tackle Domestic and Sexual Abuses in Ikorodu

The Lagos Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has taken its SGBV advocacy campaign to residents and the Community Development Council (CDC) of the Ikorodu Local Government in line with its ongoing interactive programmes across the State.

The representative of the Community Engagement Department, DSVA, Ms. Adetoun Odumbo while speaking on the topic: “The Strength to Speak: Recognizing and Reporting Domestic Violence”, noted that all and sundry must come on board to stem the increase in domestic and sexual violence in Lagos State

She enlightened the residents and community leaders on how to recognise cases that constitute domestic violence by exposing them to the various forms of violence, encouraging them to promptly report suspected cases of the menace whenever it occurs around in their vicinity.

Odumbo also appealed to community leaders to lead by example and be at the forefront of reporting abuses since they are crimes against the State, adding refusing to report cases to the authorities is illegal

The support services and the toll-free line: 08000333333 were also revealed to them for reporting domestic abuses and sexual violence in the community, just as educational materials were also distributed to all participants.
