Several Injured as Traders’ Vehicle Hits Bandits’ Bomb in Sokoto

—

A commercial vehicle conveying traders reportedly struck a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) allegedly planted by bandits loyal to Bello Turji along the Sabon Birni – Kurawa road in Sokoto State on Sunday morning.
According to reports, the explosive device was believed to have been planted to target troops responding to a military operation in the area. However, the commercial vehicle encountered the device before the soldiers arrived.
Fortunately, no fatalities were recorded in the incident. While the soldiers were not affected, several passengers aboard the vehicle sustained varying degrees of injuries and were reportedly taken for medical attention.
The incident highlights the continued security challenges in parts of Sokoto State, where armed groups have increasingly resorted to the use of explosive devices during attacks and ambushes.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the explosion as of the time of filing this report.
