Several Butchered To Death As Rival Cult Groups Clash in Benue

A recent fight happened between two gangs, the Black Axe and the Red Axe, in North Bank, a part of Makurdi, Benue State. Sadly, at least seven people died because of it, according to Sources.

The fight was so bad that they had to close the market in the area. The people who live there had a hard time dealing with what happened.

Cibilus Odinaka, who is in charge of the North Bank market, explained how the fight started.

He said someone from one gang was stopped while they were in the market, and that made them start fighting. Odinaka said, “From Saturday until today (Monday), six people have been killed.”

Even though there is a military base close by, people felt like the security didn’t help much. Odinaka said, “The military base doesn’t help us at all.”

Nura Umah, who leads a local group that watches out for trouble, confirmed that six gang members died in the fight.

One more person who died was just a motorcycle taxi driver who got caught up in the fighting by accident.

More police were sent to the area to try to make things calm again. Catherine Anene, who speaks for the police in the state, said, “We heard about the fighting between gangs in North Bank, so the police went there to try to help. They are still trying to find out what happened.”
