Senator Ndume Condemns Renewed Boko Haram Attacks in Borno South

Senator Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has strongly condemned the recent rise in Boko Haram attacks in his constituency, calling the situation “very troubling” and unacceptable.

In a statement on Thursday Night, he revealed that four farmers were brutally killed by Boko Haram terrorists while working on their farms in Kwam village, near Dille in Askira-Uba Local Government Area.

Ndume said the farmers were attacked while harvesting their crops, which shows that security in many remote communities is still very weak despite years of military efforts.

“I am deeply worried about the renewed attacks by Boko Haram terrorists in some parts of my constituency in the last week. These attacks led to the killing of four farmers while they were harvesting their crops in Kwam village,” he said.

The senator noted that the killings were not isolated, as the insurgents have increased their attacks in several communities.

“Just last week, a church and other buildings in Pemi were burnt, and on Wednesday there were reports of another Boko Haram invasion in the Shikarkir community in Chibok Local Government Area,” he lamented.

Ndume criticised the failure of security agencies to maintain constant presence in remote villages, saying this has allowed insurgents to operate freely without resistance.

“The situation is worrisome because the lack of security presence in these remote communities has led to more attacks without any challenge from the security agencies,” he added.
