Senator Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang, representing Plateau North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has called on the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the recent collapse of a school building at Saint Academy College in Jos.Â
This tragic incident resulted in the loss of 22 students’ lives and left many others with severe injuries.
In his address to news reporters following his visit to the injured at various hospitals in the state capital on Monday, Senator Dachungyang emphasized the need for strict adherence to construction rules and regulations to prevent such disasters in the future.
He noted that the country has witnessed numerous similar unfortunate incidents recently and expressed his commitment to proposing a motion in the Senate.
This motion will focus on enforcing compliance with established building standards, particularly in primary, secondary, and tertiary educational institutions.
The senator praised the prompt response of hospitals, security agencies, emergency workers, and individuals who assisted in the aftermath of the incident.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, urging them to find hope amidst their grief.
Additionally, Senator Dachungyang expressed his sympathy to the Muslim community in Plateau State over the passing of Sheikh Lawal Adam, the Chief Imam of Jos Central Mosque.
 He conveyed his deep condolences to Sheikh Adam’s family, the leadership of the Jos Central Mosque, and the entire Ulamah in the state.
