Senate Divided over Rivers Crisis

The Senate was on Wednesday  in rowdy session as several Senators sharply disagreed over the conflict  between Governor Rotimi Amaechi and the Rivers state Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mbu. It should be recalled that yesterday at least four members of the Rivers State House of Assembly were battered in a free-for-all fight at the state legislature. At the end of the fiasco, , the group of five legislators opposed to  governor Rotimi Amaechi claimed to have removed the Speaker Otelemaba Amachree. But the claim was quickly repudiated by  23 members who flocked in support of the speaker.
