Security Forces Recover Anti-Aircraft Ammunition, IED Materials in Maiduguri

—

Security operatives comprising the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) have uncovered a large cache of live anti-aircraft ammunition and suspected improvised explosive device (IED) components in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The items were found abandoned inside a drainage in the Bulumkuttu area of the state. Among the recovered materials were several power banks suspected to be intended for use in the manufacture of IEDs.
The discovery was made by a group of young children who were fishing in the drainage when they noticed the suspicious objects and alerted security authorities.
An amateur video sighted showed the children being rewarded by security personnel attached to Sector 9 for their vigilance and prompt action.
The recovery comes amid heightened security concerns in Borno State, following a deadly bomb explosion in recent weeks, which authorities have attributed to Boko Haram insurgents.
Security agencies have urged residents to remain vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious items or movements to the nearest security formation.
