In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Paul said that Beyoncé stepped out of her comfort zone to work with him on the dancehall track.

He mentioned that the song helped dancehall gain global acceptance and made history for both him and Beyoncé.

“I was working with artists like Busta Rhymes, Clipse, and Blu Cantrell, who were more hip-hop oriented,” Paul recalled. “But Beyoncé was such a big artist and she was trying something new by working with me.”

Paul added, “It showed that dancehall was becoming popular and that my music was being accepted by many people. Coming from Texas, I know she grew up hearing a lot of dancehall, so it made sense for both of us and made history.”
