A 46-year-old sales representative, Abubakar Yusuf, found himself in hot water on Wednesday as he was docked at the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan over an alleged N11.3 million theft.
Yusuf, who works with MK DAAT Impex, pleaded not guilty when the charges were laid bare before him.
The prosecutor, Insp. Adeshina Folaranmi, told the court that the alleged crime took place in November at Bodija Market, Ibadan.
According to Folaranmi, Yusuf reportedly pocketed money from the sale of 170 bags of rice belonging to his employer but failed to remit the proceeds to the company’s coffers.
“This offence contravenes Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo, 2000,” the prosecutor stated.
Magistrate Mrs. Oluwabusayo Osho granted Yusuf bail set at N5 million, with two sureties of the same amount. The case has been adjourned to March 5, 2026, for further hearing.
