Retired Maj.-Gen. Maikano Appointed Acting Commander-General of Civilian JTF

The national leadership of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) has appointed retired Major General Abdullahi Maikano as the new Acting Commander-General of the organisation.
The announcement was made on Sunday by the National Chairman of the CJTF, Prof. Kailani Muhammad, during the CJTF National Security Summit held in Abuja. The summit was themed, “Building a Resilient Nation: Strategic Partnerships for Peace, Stability and National Development.”
Announcing the appointment, Prof. Muhammad described Maikano as a respected military veteran and sports administrator, expressing confidence that his leadership would help strengthen and formalise the Civilian JTF through a comprehensive development blueprint.
Reflecting on the organisation’s journey, Muhammad recalled founding the Civilian JTF 15 years ago to support security agencies in combating insecurity and promoting national unity.
He said the organisation remains committed to complementing the efforts of the military, police and other security agencies in protecting lives and restoring peace across Nigeria.
Muhammad also revealed plans to develop a strategic roadmap for the organisation under the new leadership, while expanding partnerships with international organisations and countries across West Africa and beyond.
Speaking after his appointment, Maj.-Gen. Maikano expressed gratitude to the CJTF leadership for the confidence reposed in him, describing the role as a new responsibility he is prepared to undertake with dedication.
He pledged to build on the achievements recorded by the organisation over the past 15 years and implement a robust plan to enhance its operations nationwide.
Maikano emphasised that the Civilian JTF would continue to play a complementary role by supporting the armed forces, police and other security agencies with local intelligence and knowledge of the terrain.
He reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to working with security agencies to promote peace, stability and national development, stressing that Nigerians must unite in protecting the country’s security and future.
